By the time I turned 40, I had added “everybody lies” to my adage collection. It falls in line with “the truth hurts”. One of the greatest talents of the best spies is turning lies into reality and being able to detect targets who do the same. One of the lines Pops delivered often was “Everybody Lies”. Today I came across a 47-minute YouTube video titled “Former CIA Officer Will Teach You How to Spot a Lie” and immediately remembered Pops saying, “Everybody lies.” Over 12 million viewers had watched the 2016 video before my discovery. The former CIA officer in this video is Susan Carnicero, one of four collaborating authors of the New York Times Bestseller “Spy the Lie: Former CIA Officers each You How to Detect Deception”, published on January 1, 2012.
